Asher Kingston is a special investigator for the Texas attorney general's office in Austin. When he gets a late-night call that his dad has been badly injured in an attempted robbery of his bar, he rounds up his two brothers and heads back to his hometown, Crossroads, to be with him. During visiting hours at the hospital, Asher breathes a brief sigh of relief that his dad is alive and stable, even though he's in the ICU, unconscious. In the hallway, he runs into Nora Borden, his girlfriend from high school. He hasn't seen her in years, and she's still as beautiful to him as she was the day they parted ways. Nora works as a high-profile computer tech; Asher claims his job is too unpredictable for relationships. But before long, their revived friendship ignites a passion they each haven't felt for far too long. Between his investigative skills and her high security clearance, together Asher and Nora unravel a case long gone cold, hoping to find out what happened in the bar that night. Only then can they clear the Kingston name.
