When a fire sweeps through a forest, everything is destroyed in its wake. What remains is a landscape with no signs of life--only ash, debris, and silence. Pine cones unseal from the heat of the fire, beetles fly in to munch on the charred wood, and volunteers help clear the forest floor. Slowly but surely, this forest is on a path to regrowth.
